Assumption University was initially originated from Assumption Commercial College in 1969 as an autonomous higher education institution under the name of Assumption School of Business. In 1972, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, it was officially established as “Assumption Business Administration College” or ABAC. In May 1975, it was accredited by the Ministry of University Affairs. In 1990, it was granted new status as “Assumption University” by the Ministry of University Affairs.

The University is a non-profit institution administered by the Brothers of St. Gabriel, a worldwide Catholic religious order, founded in France in 1705 by St. Louis Marie De Montfort, devoted to education and philanthropic activities. The congregation has been operating many educational institutions in Thailand since 1901.

The University is an international community of scholars, enlivened by Christian inspiration, engaged in the pursuit of truth and knowledge, serving the human society, especially through the creative use of interdisciplinary approaches and cybertechnology.

Applying Undergraduate Degree

Undergraduate students who do not have a high school diploma can also enroll with a GED, which is the equivalent of a 12th grade education in the United States. GED preparation takes at least 4 to 6 months. For an undergraduate degree in Thailand, you have to attend 3 (or 4) years. As a scholarship, you can apply to Child Dream Association, Prospect Burma, and May Bank, which are based in Switzerland. For this scholarship, you should prepare either GED or IELTS (or) TOFEL.

Applying Postgraduate Degree

For Postgraduate, the time can last from 3 to 4 years. IELTS Band Score 6.5 (or TOFEL 80) is required. It may differ depending on the university he chooses to attend.

Differences Private & Public Universities

International public universities have a higher ranking than private universities and are more strict in accepting admissions. Part-Time job permit

According to the law of the Thai government, international students who come to study from outside of Thailand are not allowed to work part time/full time while they are studying. As an exception, in some relevant schools, you can get internship experience with "Unpaid Internship". Only after the end of the study period can you legally apply for a job and continue living with a Work Visa.
